Summer's over - Back at it
With the engine completely disassembled it's time to start measuring
stuff
This engine had about 900 hours on it after a factory remanufacture but
it had also been sitting around for about 5 years
so I decided that it just had to come apart
It was very nicely detailed with some brush on paint but that's just
not my style
So off it comes
Rocker covers too
and of course the sump
Before and after pistons. It took a lot of work because the old
Chem-Dip is now 'NEW' and VOC compliant
it contains none of those nasty chloronated solvents that used to
dissolve carbon deposits
Hey, I wanna be environmentally responsible too so maybe air and
crushed walnut shells is a better way to go
I got this thing from Harbor freight with the blast media for about a
hundred thirty bucks
Quintessential Shade Tree Mechanic
and proud to be one
KIt ain't real big but it's big enough for this
Hell, you wouldn't think a bunch of crushed walnuts would be of much
use but......
They sure do a job
I'm pretty much decided with gray case and black cylinders but not that
'brush-on' stuff
Hard carbon deposits
Weird huh?
The Cam...........I don't talk much
Oh yea...the Stromberg
Where's the plastic?
Well, there is some shit down there after all
and my skin is telling me 'Hey, let's get old!'
Okay.....do we have a choice?
So, now what we gonna do?
Oh come on, let's not start polishing stuff!!!
Ahhh, there we go, paint will cool down the hot passion
but maybe a buffed out clear coat........
War wound - ouch!!
